Removing Nerve Irritation to Restore Optimal Health
.
As the nation's leading alternative health care system, chiropractic utilizes a drug-free, surgery-free approach to the treatment and management of patient cases. By incorporating manual adjusting with soft tissue modalities and nutrition counseling, chiropractic can be extremely effective at relieving musculoskeletal pain and helping the body reach optimal functional capacity.
The premise of chiropractic is based on the functionality of the spinal column and nervous system. The spinal column is made up of a series of bones called vertebra. Each of these vertebra are separated by a vertebral disc and two facet joints. As these vertebra articulate with one another, they can often become fixated. These fixations are referred to as subluxations.
A subluxation can have multiple effects on the body, but it most commonly results in nerve irritation at the facet joint. This nerve irritation can lead to local or radiating pain. Additionally, there are also muscular, neurological, biochemical, and sometimes systemic effects that can be caused by this nerve interference.
Chiropractic focuses on the removal of these interferences to reduce pain and restore proper biomechanics and function. The primary method by which these subluxations are corrected is through a manual manipulative therapy called a chiropractic adjustment.
These adjustments, performed by your doctor, utilize a directed force along a specific line of drive. The result is the correction of the subluxation and the removal of the associated nerve irritation.
Chiropractic has been extensively researched and the chiropractic adjustment is one of the safest and most effective methods of treatment for musculoskeletal pain of the low back, neck, and extremities.

What We Do
Our sole purpose is to locate areas of misalignment or restricted mobility in your spine and body that could be causing nerve irritation or impingement and to correct these with specific chiropractic adjustments. Our primary objective is "removal of nerve interference for restoration of health;" however, we are not limited to adjusting. We also provide nutritional counseling, rehabilitation, and therapy.
With a healthy nervous system free from interference, all other organs, tissues, and systems in the body function more effectively. Besides the common conditions we see of back pain, neck pain, and headaches, we have also seen tremendous results with a wide range of health problems. These include sinus trouble, rib pain, sciatica, digestive trouble, eye and ear complaints, asthma, carpal tunnel syndrome, fibromyalgia, all types of joint sprains, strains and injuries, and many other conditions.
We are often asked who should see a chiropractor, and our answer is "anyone with a spine." Although all of these symptoms and conditions respond to chiropractic care, asymptomatic patients are also encouraged to be evaluated and treated. Many of our patients get maintenance care just because it feels good and increases their overall sense of well-being. If you have any questions about chiropractic care and the benefits in your specific case, please ask one of the doctors.
Payment & Health Insurance
We are known as a Cash Practice. This means that all patients are required to pay for services at the time that they are rendered. Cash, check, MasterCard, Visa or Discover are all acceptable forms of payment. We DO NOT accept health insurance assignment. We will electronically file (as a service to you) Medicare (Primary Only). You must file your own supplemental insurance claims, Blue Cross/ Blue Shield, but you are still required to pay for services at the time of treatment, and reimbursement will be from the insurance company to you. With all other health insurance, you must file the claims yourself. This is very simple to do. After payment each visit, you will be given a "super bill" receipt. This has all the necessary insurance codes and information required. Attach this to one of your claim forms from your insurance company, fill out the personal information at the top and mail it in. Be sure to include your policy number and mark the box to have the money sent to you instead of us. Some people combine multiple visits and send several super bills in at the same time. This "cash practice" philosophy allow us to keep our fees lower and more affordable. Many insurance companies do not provide chiropractic care in their policies, so we try to keep our fees reasonable for those who need it most.
We are not a part of any PPO's or HMO's but our total fees are comparable to some of the co-payments required by other offices and with the quality of care you will receive here, it will definitely be worth it. Any dispute or disagreement about insurance is between you and your insurance company. We will help when possible, but remember, we are not responsible for what they do or do not pay.
The only exceptions to our cash policy involve certain car accidents and workers compensation claims. If your condition is a direct result of this type of injury and we have authorization from your insurance company and/or employer before beginning care, then we will bill them directly. In this case, the final responsibility of payment still falls on you. If they fail to pay any or all of your balance or if they pay one lump settlement, you MUST pay for all services out of that. We do not accept third-party payment from the other person's insurance.
We do not participate in the state Medicaid program.
Scheduling
We try to schedule every visit with as much convenience for our patients as possible. We highly recommend that you make appointments, but in most cases we do still accept walk-ins (unless it is a first time patient). If you do not have an appointment, please be patient. We will get you in to see a doctor as quick as possible but we must accommodate those with appointments first. Thanks for your understanding.
First Visit
Since we have special times of the day that we see new patients, we do require that you have an appointment for your first visit. This is so we can schedule extra time with you. We start by having you fill our some basic paperwork, and then the doctor will perform a chiropractic examination. If he finds that yours is a chiropractic case, he will then treat you with the appropriate procedure. An explanation of chiropractic and report of findings will be given to explain the goals and expectations of care.
Because of the extra time involved with a first time patient, there is an additional exam fee on the first visit. X-rays are not required in all cases and are not taken in this office. We have a medical radiologist on call if we feel that your case requires it. If we send you out for x-rays, the M.D. will take and read the x-rays and immediately fax us the radiographic report. Additionally, you can bring in prior films or digital images, and your doctor can analyze them chiropractically. All payments for x-rays should be made directly to the radiologist's clinic.
Follow-Up Visits
Depending on the type, severity, and duration of your condition as well as your overall health profile, (age, weight, work, and habits) follow up visits are usually required. The number and frequency of these are always decided on an individual basis. These follow-up visits are less time consuming since the preliminary paperwork and exam procedure are not required. These visits can be scheduled at any time during our office hours. The key to getting pain free and restored to your optimum health is to follow the doctor's recommendations so please follow through with your appointments. Once you are symptom free and your spine has stabilized, we recommend regular maintenance care to prevent reoccurrence of the condition and to stimulate the nervous system to improve your over all health. The frequency of these maintenance visits vary from patient to patient depending on their stress and activity level and overall health condition. We promise to help you get well as quickly and with as few appointments as possible.
